On February 26th, William (Bill) Jan Davis opened his eyes to see the full glory of Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ. To announce his passing is bittersweet as we mourn for ourselves but know he is rejoicing in the presence of his beloved Savior.
Bill was born November 20th, 1946, to Braxton and Mary Christina (Dale) Davis in Nevada, Missouri. At age 16 he met classmate Terry Covington and told his friends "I'm gonna marry her someday." A few short years later, he and his new wife Terry began their long and full life together.
Bill's life was characterized by his faith in Christ and his love for people. In his late 20s, he received the call to ministry and over the years spent countless hours pouring over Scripture and his favorite puritan authors to deepen his knowledge and to craft sermons. He wanted nothing more than to be used by God to expand His kingdom and served as a pastor in multiple churches over the years. He also viewed his long career at the United States Post Office as its own ministry, always greeting his customers with a smile and encouraging word.
Known as a jokester, Bill had a laugh or a quip ready for every situation. He loved evenings spent gathered around the table with family and friends, telling stories or playing a game.
He was Dad to 4 children, Papa Bill to 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and a friend to everyone who crossed his path.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale Braxton Davis. He is survived by his wife, Terry, his children Kristina (Dan) Weber, Balaea Miller, Jacob Davis, and Rachel Davis, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Newton Burial Park.
